The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dr. Dritan Abazović, organized a reception in the villa "Gorica" for the Ju-Jitsu national team of Montenegro, who won 18 medals at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi and took tenth place in the general classification. "Being a fighter in Montenegro today is an honor and a privilege. Wearing a medal of your own country is the most beautiful thing that can happen to you. The number of medals speaks of the immense potential, but also the will of the people who work with you, "Abazović pointed out, addressing the national team members, the professional team and the representatives of the Federation. Abazovic told the national team that Abu Dhabi should be only one stop of their success, and that the torch of Montenegro, its freedom and justice, should continue to shine at other world competitions, while respecting opponents and a fair approach. Wear your medal proudly, our coat of arms and make Montenegro famous all over the world. I wish you all the best and congratulations, Abazović concluded in his address.
Montenegro and Croatia are an example of successful regional cooperation, while its strengthening and improvement is an important task in the coming period, said Deputy Prime Minister Dr Dritan Abazovic during a meeting with Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlic Radman. Abazovic used his working visit to Zagreb to point out the necessity of deepening and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, but also resolving the remaining open issues. The process of enlargement of the European Union was discussed at the meeting, while Grlić Radman emphasized that Montenegro will have the full support and assistance of the Republic of Croatia on that European path.
Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dr Dritan Abazovic met with US Congresswoman Elisa Slotkin in Tirana. They discussed the political situation in the Western Balkans as well as modalities for overcoming the accumulated problems. Special emphasis was placed on combating the influence of corrupt elites who pose a broader security threat. Elissa Slotkin is a congresswoman from Michingen, a member of the Committee on Military Policy and the Committee on National Security, who was previously engaged in the CIA. European parliamentarians are ready to provide all the support in order for Montenegro's reform path to succeed, Abazović pointed out after last night's working dinner with the delegation of the European Parliament. In addition to the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, N.J. E. Kristine Oane Pope, as the host, and Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Dritan Abazović, were attended by MEPs Vladimir Bilčik (EPP), Daniel Freund (Greens) and Thais Reuten (S&D). Stating that he talked openly, friendly and professionally with EU parliamentarians about all the challenges we face, Vice President Abazović pointed out that the success of Montenegro is important not only for our country, but also for the region and the European Union.
The Administration for Cadastre and State Property and its regional unit in Ulcinj issued the first decisions returning the confiscated property to the old owners of property in Valdanos in 1978. We note that the issue of olive groves in Valdanos Bay was brought up again on December 17, 2020, when Vice President Abazović, as part of an official visit to the municipality of Ulcinj, visited Valdanos Bay and talked with old olive grove owners and representatives of the Olive Growers Association. A few days after the official visit to Ulcinj and Valdanos, the Association of Olive Growers officially addressed the Deputy Prime Minister with a request to allow revitalization, arrangement of olive groves and cleaning of access roads. In cooperation with the Cabinet of Abazovic, the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Defense, the Army of Montenegro and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the mentioned request was realized, in the presence of government representatives on February 6, 2021.
At the session of the Council for the Rights of the Child, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Dritan Abazović, the possibilities of opening a Children's Home were discussed, according to the model of multidisciplinary solving of the issue of violence against children. The orphanage, modeled on Barnachus, would deal with cases of sexual trauma and child abuse, and would serve for parallel and coordinated work on criminal investigation, on the one hand, and interrogation conducted by the social welfare sector, on the other, while taking into account that the service is provided in a safe environment adapted to the needs of the child. In accordance with the Strategy for Prevention and Protection of Children from Violence for the period 2017-2021 and the priorities recognized by the Council for the Rights of the Child, the UNICEF Office in Podgorica provided strong support to the process of establishing the Children's Home. In this regard, the UNICEF Office expressed its readiness to provide the best expertise in the process of establishing the Children's Home to ensure the application of international standards in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and to draw on best practices from countries that have gone through a similar process.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro in charge of the security sector, Dr. Dritan Abazović, held a meeting with the Assistant Secretary General of NATO, David Cutler. Abazović and Cutler exchanged opinions on the situation in the security sector, numerous current topics, and special attention was paid to the increasingly pronounced challenges in the form of cybercrime and hybrid threats. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the visit, emphasizing that the cooperation between Montenegro and NATO is at an enviable level, as evidenced by the numerous visits of high-ranking officials. It was concluded at the meeting that Montenegro can count on any kind of support, as well as that all members of the Alliance are at the disposal of state bodies in order to eliminate modern threats.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dr. Dritan Abazović, hosted ECFR representatives in Villa Gorica today, including the editor-in-chief of the prestigious magazine "Le Monde" Sylvie Kauffmann, former Member of the European Parliament (EP) and President of the International Institute for Peace (IPI) Hannes Swoboda, former Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić, then Vessela Tcherneva, EFCR Vice President and Ivan Vejvoda, Director and Permanent Associate of the European Project. The meeting expressed satisfaction with maintaining foreign policy priorities and strengthening Montenegro's pro-Western course, but also pointed out the need to "create and strengthen bridges among all sincere pro-Western actors in Montenegrin society, as a basis for successful completion of European integration and some EU membership."
Press conference on the occasion of the presentation of the model of confiscation of property of illegal origin. The goal of the adoption of the proposed law is to finally put an end to the illegal enrichment of officials, criminals or citizens who acquired wealth illegally. Deputy Prime Minister dr Dritan Abazović emphasized that this is a systematic law that will significantly contribute to the fight against organized crime and corruption in Montenegro.
