Abazovic talks with Escobar: We will monitor the situation with Russian oligarchs, ready to expand the scope of sanctions

Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dr Dritan Abazovic and US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar exchanged views on current events in Ukraine and potential future activities aimed at sanctioning the Russian Federation's aggression in Eastern Europe. Abazovic and Escobar agreed that it is currently crucial for the countries of the Western Balkans to show great determination in defending the values of civilization and to stand to the end together with their EU and NATO allies. Montenegro is ready to expand the range of sanctions in order to fully follow the EU's foreign policy. We will monitor the situation with the Russian oligarchs and take all measures in accordance with the law if they come to Montenegro. In order to preserve the stability and overall security of the country, we are carrying out activities aimed at combating malignant influences in Montenegro, which previously resulted in the expulsion of a Russian diplomat by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to humanitarian and financial assistance, there will be no shortage of assistance in military equipment, as soon as the internal procedures in Montenegro are completed, Abazovic pointed out.
